Team Staff

This is Jess's second year with the team and recently graduated from the University of Guelph and Humber College with a specialization in public relations. She looks after community relations activities including school appearances. Contact her if you would like to arrange a player visit at your school.

This is Melissa's second season with the Newmarket Hurricanes having just completed a sport business management post graduate program in Ottawa. She brings a unique mix of experience and education as she has worked for both the Ottawa 67s and the Ottawa Senators while completing her schooling. Melissa currently resides in Newmarket and enjoys snowboarding in her off time.

Steve joined the Newmarket Hurricanes in 1993 as a helper with Statistics He tracked shots on goal, location of shots, hits, etc. He helped direct the team for two years by serving on the Board of Directors and then moved to timekeeping in 1994 where Steve has been for the last nine years. The timekeepers are considered off-officials of the O.H.A. Steve has also coached Minor hockey for five seasons in the G.M.H.A. Steve's son Jeremy works with the Hurricanes as a goal judge and is a big part of the team. Steve's wife Christine also volunteers and works as the "Chuck-A-Puck Lady" as well as helping out when needed with the music. "A true Hurricane family" and we would like to extend a very large Thank You to the Burtons from the Newmarket Hurricanes!

Bill is a retired school teacher, having moved to Newmarket in 1980. Bill's wife Brigitte and their two children, Jackie and Michael have always supported Bill in all his activities. Bill played Jr. 'B' hockey with the Dixie Bee Hives and has played against the likes of Fred Stanfield and Vic Hadfield (Former N.H.L.) Bill has refereed hockey, umpired baseball, fastball as well as slo-pitch. Bill has been an off-ice official with the Newmarket Saints and the Newmarket Royals. Bill joined the Hurricanes around the time the Royals left town and has been a loyal volunteer with the Hurricanes ever since. At the rink, Bill is known as the 'Penalty Timekeeper'. Bill also volunteers for the Newmarket House League tournament and is an active member of the York Curling Club. The Hurricanes wish to thank Bill and the Oliver family for all their support over the years!
