While down 4-0 midway through the second period, the Hurricanes fought back valiantly to make a game of it at the Magna Centre in Newmarket on Wed. Aug. 26.  In their first exhibition game of the 2009-10 season, Newmarket fell 6-5 to the Markham Waxers.

The Canes are in Markham on Sunday, April 30 at the Markham Centennial Centre before back-to-back contests with the Aurora Tigers on Thurs. Sept. 3 at 7:30pm at the Magna Centre in Newmarket and Fri. Sept. 4 at 7:30pm at the Aurora Community Centre.

The Hurricanes open the 2009-10 CCHL season on Friday, September 11 in Toronto against the St. Michael's Buzzers.  The home opener goes Thursday, September 17 at 7:35pm at the Ray Twinney Complex against the Toronto Jr. Canadians.
